The Gospel According to John... According to Deut 17

    I had, in fact, completed recording the Gospel of John almost two months ago. I apologize for not sharing it sooner. The transition from Texas to England had absorbed all my attention. So, now I am posting it to read. But before you read it, I need to address some changes I made and why I did.

1. Instead of using the Name 'Jesus' I use 'Yeshua.' I did this because it is His original Hebrew name and is how He was known during the time He walked this earth as a man. It is a beautiful name, and I encourage you to practice saying it. (Just remember the 'Ye' forms more of an 'eh' sound. The proper pronunciation is more like Eh-shu-uh.)

2. Instead of using 'disciple' I use the talmidim. I did this because studies have revealed that modern Christian's have used the term 'disciple' quite liberally. To understand what a disciple is in the Hebrew sense, is quite different.
תלמידם Talmidim (pronounced tall-me-deem) - A plural Hebrew noun meaning "disciples" in its truest sense: those who leave family to study and follow the ways of their teacher [rabbi]. They study not only to learn what their teacher knows but to become the type of man their teacher is. From the Hebrew root word "limmud" meaning "instructed". Strong''s #8527. Pronounced tal mee DEEM. Singular talmid.

3. Instead of using 'Truly, truly' I use 'Amen, amen.' This is what Yeshua would have said. Like talmidim, to understand what it means when someone says 'Amen' is powerful. It means that they are emphasizing Truth being spoken. It is not opinions. It is Truth. Today's society regards it as the closing to a prayer, but Yeshua used it at the beginning of His teachings.

4. I choose to use the ESV translation, but I included the Scripture verses the ESV leaves out. I like the way the ESV is written best, and as far as my limited knowledge goes, it is the best translation. But again, I included Scripture left out of the ESV because I do not agree with their reasons for it.

5. It is typed down in more 'novel' form, and not 'Bible' form. This was not my original intent, but as I began, I realized I liked the way it read. It is a nice change to me to read a book from the Bible in more of a transitional book style without chapter and verse, and the layout is as if I were reading a regular book. It is simply a nice change.


*Remember that I am not trying to 'convert' people to my mindset. I am not trying to recreate my own Bible translation (I don't know Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek.) I am doing this for my own personal use. I am sharing it in hopes to encourage others to take a deeper approach in their own studies. Recording it down for yourself is a very powerful way to help instill His Word in your heart and, as it is written in Deuteronomy 'that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them, that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, either to the right hand or to the left."
