"For I Know the Plans I Have for You..." (Uh, oh!)
Yesterday, we learned about how to develop a teachable heart in ourselves (or how to deal with a non-teachable one -Just beat 'em up! -JK). ;) Today, we learned about the 'walls' we build around our hearts, how they got there, and recognizing the reasons why we've built them.
I won't go into details about either subject tonight, but I simply must relate that I kept looking at my 'one-on-one' mentor across the room. We both evidently had an inside chuckle to ourselves. We had just talked about my having 'walls' around my heart last Thursday. It is VERY ironic that every time I vocalize an issue I'm dealing with, suddenly it happens to be the topic for discussion. And that hasn't just happened here. It's happened many times throughout my life!
I have come to the conclusion that whatever type of clothing God might wear, He has long sleeves. My reasoning for this is because no matter what problem I have, or a little desire I don't feel like I can ask for, or even just something I want to avoid, He always seems to have something up His sleeve!!!
I'm constantly stressing about things and beginning to experience anxiety. I share with a co-worker about what's happening to my body. I find out she's had the same things and tells me things to cut back on in my diet to help, including caffeine. I soon after decrease the coffee and caffeinated tea I drink. The stress lessens and the anxiety attacks are not as strong.
God says, "See? I answer your troubles through many people."
I accidently leave my 'brand new, $200, barely had for two weeks' camera in my rental car in the Las Vegas international airport and board a flight to England before I realize what I did. I file a claim after I've gotten to the U.K. They say there was no camera. A week later I get an email it's found. My dad picks it up, and ships it to England. I have my camera back!!!
God says, "See? I care about the little things."
Back in high school I was invited to Prom my Sophomore year by a friend. I didn't have the money for a dress. A couple at the diner I work at (who are regulars) learn about my situation and one evening present me with a $100 gift card to go towards my prom dress.
God says, "See? I will provide for you, even when you don't feel like you should ask."
I tell my one-on-one that I have a wall built around my heart, but I don't know when or how I built it, and I don't know how to tear it down. A few days later the DTS lesson is about recognizing the things in our lives that lead us to build walls and how to pray and work to remove those bricks from our life. Hmmmm......
God says, "See? All you had to do is ask."
I'm working out in the yard on cloudy day and it begins to downpour, but I have to finish the project I'm working on. I'm soaked all through by the time I'm finished and make it to the house door and go inside. Immediately the rain stops and sun starts to come out. I raise my eyes to the heavens and cry out, "Seriously?!!"
God says, "See? I have a [loving] sense of humor too!" (I always picture Him grinning in that moment.)
And then I start laughing. -I needed that!

When you hear people say that 'The Lord works in mysterious ways' I promise you that is no understatement! We never know when or how, or sometimes not even why, He does things. And so many times He does the most unexpected thing you could ever imagine. And He doesn't do it because He has to. He doesn't always do it because we really need it. He just does it because He truly loves us and wants to bless us.
Yes.
It's really that simple.
