Sometimes God Gives to Us So That We are Able to Give to Others

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion,
and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
-2 Corinthians 9:11

The Lord blessed me today. In fact, He's been blessing me a lot lately.

These past few months didn't go anything like I had originally thought they would, but that didn't prevent the Lord from accomplishing a great deal through that delayed time. And as I packed my bags in preparation of my flight today, I kept getting emails and messages from people informing me they were going to start sending me monthly support.

I don't know what the grand monthly total is yet, but it will be sufficient that I can have a little more breathing room and open a savings account! Besides that, I have been overwhelmed with the love and spiritual and emotional support. And I did manage to begin laying the foundation the Lord had put in my heart to do during my stay.

And now with my visa and plane ticket in hand, and my sitting in a Boston airport waiting for my connection flight, I had no expectations for any more blessings.

But today He gave me the greatest blessing!

During my layover, a young lady asked if she could take the seat next to me. As time passed we visited and I learned that she was from South East Europe and just out of her teen years. We were headed in two different directions, but our flights were set to board about the same time, so we just enjoyed our visit. Though she was stressing that she had a second check in luggage she had to pay for, and it was going to take all her cash. (Her card wasn't working.)

I had purchased a veggie wrap prior to our meeting, but wasn't hungry. I asked if she would split it with me, and my suspicions were confirmed that she hadn't had dinner. So, I was pleased that the wrap was so large and more than enough for two.

And very soon we learned her flight was going to be delayed over three hours, and she would miss her connection flight. This was very frighting for her, so I made inquiries. Of course, as it is the airline's fault it is their responsibility to find her another connection flight home. I also asked about food vouchers, and the man confirmed the airline would be responsible for providing that too since it's a big delay. It was good to be able to reassure her in this.

However, though we had resolved this (at least what should take place and that she knew it), she was still understandably concerned, so I shared some miracle stories of how God made bad flights turn into good ones for me. This amazed and encouraged her. But I still felt concerned about her having no more cash on hand. (I've been there before.) I could not dismiss that paying the $75 for her extra check in could leave her in a difficult situation.

*Before I go on, I must insert here that I had not intended to travel with any cash on me as I hate dealing with money exchanges. But a family member gave me a $100 bill the night before. I had broken it to buy the veggie wrap I shared with my new friend, and had a little over $80 left. And I knew in my heart that the Lord was telling me it belonged to her.

The question was if she would except it. I had to do some fast-talking to get her to share my dinner.

So, I told her that something was in my heart to do, and I felt strongly it was from the Lord. She didn't have to accept, but I wish she would. I told her that I was a missionary, and I lived off the donations of other people. And the Lord had blessed me so richly this last visit that I had more than enough right now. I told her of the money given to me the night before, that I would not have had cash otherwise (and no ATM around) to do this had my supporter not given it to me.

I told her my concern, and insisted the money was in my possession to deliver to her to cover her luggage and not leave her desolate. Her response was astonishment, which soon turned into tears. I didn't know her spiritual situation at this time, and I told her that, though I didn't know that the Lord was looking out for her. She then confirmed that she was a Christian, and that her whole family was. She was not expecting the Lord to look out for her in this way.

I could see it was hard, but she accepted because she knew she needed it and believed what I told her. I had to leave her in line at her check in to go to mine, but we connected so that she could let me know the outcome. She has another flight out tonight and will make a better connecting flight. She did have to pay for the second check in luggage, but she will not be without money now -which is a praise because now that she's not delayed 3hrs the airport didn't have to give her food vouchers. But she still has a ways to go.

God is so good! I should not have had that money on me. I wasn't hungry when I felt compelled to buy the veggie wrap, and of all the open seats she sat down next to me!

God had that young lady covered! He had it all planned out to take care of her! It is my greatest hope that whoever is reading this story, will hear and understand the hear of this story is the Lord. I was merely an instrument, but He provided everything. I don't know what all is going on in that young lady's life right now, but she learned tonight that the Lord has her taken care of!

But if my supporter had not given to me, I could not have given to her. This is what we are doing together! Not just me, but every Christian in the world who wants to be a part of God's miracles!

Beloveds, we cannot withhold good from others! We must be willing to receive as well as to give. And the Lord blesses a faithful and generous giver. I want to challenge you to seek the Lord and ask Him how He can use you to bless someone today. It may or may not involve money, but whatever it is, do not hesitate to give it. Do this, and I promise you will be richly blessed! (As my heart was richly blessed by finding a new friend and getting to be to her what the Lord is to me!)

Who can you love today
