A Very Colorful Week!

Yay! It finally happened!!!

Last Sunday Grace Baptist Church opened their doors to celebrate their first Sunday in their new building! It was a beautiful time of worship and hearing the word of God. This church is on fire for the Lord, and I believe He still has many more plans for GBC yet to come! We're getting ready for the summer fun and many more great things coming around the corner!

And as if this church has not been blessing me enough already, I have been honored with the task of 'prayer walking' for the church and the surrounding community. I have already walked the church this week, and I will begin the full-on prayer walk this next week. It's not a time of evangelizing or handing out flyers, but just me and one or two more people who will simply walk and pray. I appreciate any and all prayers to cover us on these journeys. Not simply for protection as we walk the community, but also that the Holy Spirit will speak to us and guide our prayers, help us realize specific prayers needed and to claim things in His Name for the Kingdom! I am so blessed to be asked to do this.

And slowly, I am getting to know more people at Grace. They are a very welcoming and loving people, and the heart of this church for the community is so great. There is truth being taught here, and the focus is on the Kingdom.

I am having a lot of fun working with the youth too. Last night we had a game night! Yep! Karen spent four hours playing cards and board games! Anyone who knows me knows that that's not my typical thing to do. My head was swimming with new information for games I'd never heard of before! I found out that I'm pretty good at Old Maid! (No wise cracks about that now! LOL!) But I'm not very good at Logo's. At least no one tried to get me to play Monopoly! Yikes! I really had a blast though! Kids can be really great... Sometimes! ;)

I would appreciate some more prayer for the family parrot, Luke. I took her to the vet to get some more fluid drained out of her (another 160cc's worth), and then left her with them to get her antibiotics. But the vet called today that she didn't pick back up as usual this time. So, please keep her health in your prayers. She just turned 37 this past January. So, she's been in the family longer than my brother or I have. We're kinda attached to the little bird brain. She's not really worth it, but we love her! ;) Dumb bird. Please pray for her.

Today, I did something a little out of the ordinary. I was invited to go with a couple of girls from Grace to run the 'Color Obstacle Race' at a place called Lake Havasu in Arizona. It was a 5k run with several blowup obstacles that we had to climb over, or through, while people threw colored powders all over us! It was a very colorful experience! Though I confess that I didn't run. I walked. I did jog a little, but I saved my energy for getting over those blowups! Whew! Not as easy as it looks! But I did it! Yay!

It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know the girls I went with better too! It was a four hour. round trip, drive, plus the Color Race, and then we walked around the town. It's not very big, but it is the location of the London Bridge! For anyone who doesn't know, the last one London tore down they sold it to the U.S.A. So, there is a genuine London Bridge over a very pretty lake in Arizona if you ever want to go see it!

Sometimes I have doubts that like to creep up and tell me I've made a big mistake with my life. But then the Lord does things in my life, small little blessings that could easily be missed, and reminds me that I am right where He wants me to be.

I'm also currently reading a book called 'The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership' by John Maxwell. Sort of required training material for me here. I confess I was very resistant to it because I'm not really into that kind of literature, but it's kinda growing on me. Maxwell isn't just instructing people how to grow a business, he is teaching people how to live their lives to their fullest potential, and lead others. He's not focusing on worldwide business' like McDonald's or billionaires like Bill Gates (though he does mention them). His main examples are people like Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Mother Teresa.

He views leaders as people of influence, action, and respect. He views leaders as people who train up more leaders. It makes me think about one of the things the Lord has laid on my heart- not just to be His disciple, but to also train up more disciples for His Kingdom. That takes leadership. So, even though it's not normally my ideal reading material.... All right. I'm learning from it. And the information is needed and valuable. So, I am highly recommending it to others who want to grow in work, ministry or simply in their personal lives among their friends and family.

God is doing so many things in my life right now. But if I don't pay close attention I could miss it.

So, I have a challenge to my readers: Take a look at your life right now- the good and the bad- and ask God to show you some things that He's doing in your life right now. Remember, sometimes they might not be what you were originally thinking, or maybe it's sometime small. But I promise you, if you look hard enough, you can see God in action in your life! Don't miss out on that!
