Works, Worries and Wonders!

Wow! I can't believe it's been nearly two months since I got to Las Vegas! I am so blessed to be spending the summer here! It's been great to spend time with my dad and brother while also working with a fantastic church group! Since I've arrived to intern with Grace Baptist Church I have had so many fun things to do! GBC is getting their new location ready, so there have been plenty of work days painting, cleaning, etc.

The renovations for the new church are also getting closer to an end! Move in date will be May 31, 2015! I'm very excited for the church members. This will be their first permanent location they have had since the church was founded 10 years ago. I suppose they could have done this years ago, but their hearts were more towards meeting the local community needs than setting up in a building. And now their faithfulness and giving has come back to them in full. From the owner of the building space to the contractors to the suppliers, the Lord has covered everything from the funds to the labour. It is always a joyous experience to be in the midst of a new transition like this. Especially, when you're around so many people who have a heart for service.

I also work at the churches food pantry 'Bailey's Community Nest' as well as with the youth group. At the nest I get to help with a variety of things including; helping unload deliveries and stocking, helping pass out food, cleaning (of course) and being trained on the registration computers. All of the workers do this strictly volunteer and unpaid. Most are part-time, but there are several full-timers who dedicate a great portion of their free time to running the Nest. This is my first experience working with a food pantry, and I am very honoured to have this opportunity to work with such an amazing group!
With the youth group they have put me in charge of games. And I promise you that playing games with the youth is right up my alley! Whoop! Whoop! In honour of the Lord, and the church I work with I tie in a scripture with each game.  ex: I read Proverbs 12:26, and then blindfold a person, who is then guided through a maze by others. Sometimes the ones lead the blindfolded person through safely, and other times they lead falsely. It's so much fun to watch how they react to the different games each week. Another game, I read Proverbs 27:17, and then when each linked arms and stood together from a sitting position to learn how to stand up together. It was really fun to watch them fall over for a while, but then they made me get into it too! ...We won't talk about how many times I fell over! LOL!

I have also connected with the local YWAM base here in Las Vegas, and I admit that it feels really good to make connections with other YWAMer's again. My new YWAM friend from the base is actually from the exact same base I will be going to in Mexico for my School of Biblical Studies(SBS). She was there for around five years before she transferred to Vegas. Amazing how things work out like that! So, for everyone who is concerned about my going to Mexico, according to my new friend, it is actually more safe where I will be then what is thought. She loved every year she was there. I do miss my mission base in England and talking with other missionaries who have completed a Discipleship Training School  who understand completely what kind of experience it has been. So, connecting with the local YWAM base here in Las Vegas has been a wonderful treat for me. And it's not nearly an hour away like the base in Lindale, TX. Although I did get to make a couple of new friends there as well! :)

Besides working with Grace Baptist I am also spending time preparing for SBS by Bible studies and development books. I am very excited about the things I will be learning during the SBS course. It is more than just a Biblical knowledge course, it is a powerful ministry tool that will help grow and guide me to help raise up more Disciple's for Christ so that more people will be reached through the power of His message.
If you'd like to know more about what I will be doing in SBS you can go to this link:

Thank you again for all of your prayers and support! I'm excited that I am writing my first check towards my SBS for $2,000! That is nearly the first trimester covered. The total cost is $10,600 for this mission training school and trip. That leaves $8,600 to go!!!  I praise the Lord that I have this opportunity to grow and serve Him, and I praise Him for those who are helping to make this possible!

Thank you again for all that you do in financial and prayer support. Remember that no amount is too small. Every bit helps provide for my mission training so that I learn how to minister to the needs of those who have not heard God's word, and how to help them grow in their own relationship with Christ.
